India Income Tax Calculator
Estimate your income tax under India's New Tax Regime (the default regime since FY 2023-24).
Total Tax Owed (FY 2024-25 (New Regime))
₹75,400
- Taxable income
- ₹11,50,000
- Cess (4%)
- ₹2,900
- Effective rate
- 6.28%
Assumptions
- New Tax Regime only — the Old Regime with its many deductions/exemptions is not modeled
- The Section 87A rebate is not modeled — real tax owed may be lower for eligible incomes
- Includes the standard deduction for salaried individuals and the 4% Health & Education Cess
How it's calculated
Taxable income = gross income − standard deduction. Tax is applied progressively across the New Regime slabs, then a 4% cess is added.
Worked example
A ₹12,00,000 gross income after the standard deduction is taxed progressively across slabs plus cess, shown live above.
Frequently asked questions
Does this model the Old Tax Regime?
No — only the New Regime's simpler slab structure is modeled. The Old Regime's deductions (80C, HRA, etc.) can make it more favorable for some taxpayers.
