Assumptions
- Constant contribution and return rate every year
- Uses the maximum permitted 60% lump sum withdrawal — real withdrawal choice may be lower
How it's calculated
Future value = principal × (1+r)^n + contribution × ((1+r)^n − 1) / r, compounded monthly. Up to 60% may be withdrawn as a lump sum; at least 40% must go toward an annuity.
Worked example
Starting at ₹1,00,000 with ₹5,000/month contributions at a 10% return grows to a maturity corpus split into lump sum and annuity, shown live above.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to withdraw the maximum lump sum?
No — 60% is the maximum permitted lump sum. You can choose to put more toward the annuity if you prefer more guaranteed income in retirement.
